Details

The Aastra 6731i (31i) IP Phone includes the following features:

XML Support
The Aastra 6731i is equipped with XML browser capabilities allowing access to customized services and applications. Create internal service applications using development guides available from Aastra. This feature provides unlimited potential to customize the Aastra 6731i to meet your specific business needs or vertical and CTI applications using the display and keypad

Enhanced Call Management

With extensive storage capacity for personal directories, callers logs and redial lists, the Aastra 6731i can improve efficiency by providing more call information with the push of a button. Features such as shared call and bridged line appearances, call forward, call transfer, call waiting, intercom and local 3-way conference increase call flexibility and control

Remarkable Audio
The Aastra 6731i IP Telephones offer full-duplex speakerphone for excellent voice clarity and delivery. With the addition of wide-band audio sound* and our over 15 years experience in telecommunications and telephone design, Aastra can ensure superior voice quality on every product we sell

Simplified Deployment
From initial deployment and configuration to future enhancements and upgrades, the Aastra 6731i is designed to save your business time and money. Easily created configuration files, using any text editor and a variety of communication protocols, can be used to configure phones individually or centrally

As business enterprises make a steady shift towards applying VoIP technology for their communication needs, nothing beats the familiar sight of using a handset phone instead of the PC and headset. The Aastra 6731i provides the looks of a contemporary phone unit while at the same enhancing user communication needs with rich IP telephony features

The Aastra 6731i can be considered a mid range level IP Phone that showcases typical features plus some enhancements. Providing XML support for customising services and applications is one of its strongest points. The audio quality is excellent and comparable with those in the higher level IP Phone series

Another plus feature is the dual switched Ethernet port. This allows the user to connect a PC to one port while having another cable connected to the network source on the wall socket. This is a nice feature in a sense that both PC and the Aastra 6731i can connect to the internet using one line only. No additional network cables are necessary for this

One downside with the Aastra 6731i is that the package does not include a power supply, which is standard in most IP Phone models. Power source would rely on the Power over Ethernet, which is integrated within the phone, but this only works if the current phone system where it is deployed also has support for PoE. An alternative solution is to purchase a separately sold 48V power supply, which would significantly raise the cost of the unit

Initial configuration of the Aastra 6731i for network use can be a bit of a problem. That’s because the administrator default password is never mentioned in any of the accompanying manuals in the package. The solution to this is to download the administrator manual from our website, from which the username and password can be derived. After this information is keyed in, the rest of the process is typical and therefore much easier, especially if the person handling the setup has some basic knowledge on network setup and IP configuration. Setting IP can be done manually or through DHCP

These minor setbacks are easily compensated by the long list of useful features supported by the Aastra 6731i. Support for up to 6 SIP lines, multi-proxy, paging, auto-answer capability, and fully programmable numerical key pads for speed dials are just some of the notable features apart from the basics. Aastra Hi-Q Audio Technology is also built into the unit, providing superb voice quality communication all the way
